Green Road

Last month the Van Eperen team had the privilege of attending the dedication of The Green Road Healing Woodland Garden at Naval Support Activity Bethesda (NSAB), home of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The Green Road healing garden and research program are led by the non-profit Institute for Integrative Health with financial support from the TKF Foundation’s National Nature Sacred Awards. Van Eperen was fortunate enough to work with The Institute for Integrative Health to promote this event with traditional and social media, including live streaming the event on Periscope for international audiences.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect fall day for the dedication. The air was crisp and leaves were slowly falling from the trees, as distinguished speakers and more than 100 honored guests dedicated the two-acre wooded setting, which will serve as a natural respite and research site for studying the effects of spending time in nature on whole-body healing among service members.

Some of the speakers at the dedication included Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.); Captain Marvin L. Jones, Commanding Officer of Naval Support Activity Bethesda; Brian Berman, M.D., president, The Institute for Integrative Health; Tom Stoner, co-founder, TKF Foundation; and Fred Foote, M.D., retired U.S. Navy neurologist and scholar, The Institute for Integrative Health.

We left the dedication feeling proud to have supported a significant wellness effort that will assist and measure the impact of whole-body healing on our wounded warriors and gather evidence to potentially foster new healthcare treatments for all of us in the future. What an honor!

Final Note: This important project was especially nice for all of us at Van Eperen because it demonstrated the power of bridging the Baltimore to Montgomery County corridor, as we now have offices in both important locations in the State of Maryland.
