There is a spike in the number of accidents involving pedestrian when Daylight Saving Time ends each fall. Pair the earlier sunsets with the rainy weather we’ve had in Maryland this week, and it’s not hard to imagine why.
Thankfully, Montgomery County is acting on that information and working to keep our streets safe. As a member of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ Street Smart campaign for pedestrian and bike safety, the Maryland Department of Transportation is hosting an education and enforcement event at Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring.
It’s the launch of the Street Smart Virtual Reality Challenge, a traveling, interactive exhibit that lets you experience multiple traffic scenarios and learn ways to reduce injuries to pedestrians and cyclists.
It’s open to the public, so stop by.
When: Thursday, November 8, 10:30 am
Where: Veterans Plaza – 1 Veterans Pl., Silver Spring, MD 20910
