Rockville, Md. (June 4, 2020) — Van Eperen, an integrated communications agency specializing in public relations, marketing, and creative services, has won first-place during the recent Blue Pencil & Gold Screen Awards by the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC) for its mobile advertising on behalf of the Maryland Transportation Authority’s (MDTA) E-ZPass Maryland.
The Blue Pencil & Gold Screen Awards highlight creative excellence and recognizes superior government communications products and those who produce them. The campaign was awarded in NAGC’s “Mobile Advertising” category and went up against entrants from across the globe offering programs “designed specifically for mobile reach using smart phone applications, app advertisements, or text messaging services.”
The transportation communications campaign, “Nothing Stopping You Now!” was created for the Maryland Transportation Authority as a core element of an integrated E-ZPass Maryland 2019 Summer Campaign. Messages promoted savings and convenience, encouraging those without transponders to purchase an E-ZPass Maryland transponder online, at customer service centers and at select retailers. According to a campaign recap prepared by Van Eperen, the mobile ads had an engagement rate of 7.96 percent and delivered 1,139,407 impressions. English and Spanish versions were created.
“We thrive on delivering results for the government agencies we partner with and I commend our talented Baltimore team for leading the strategy, messaging and creative execution for this award-winning tolling marketing communications campaign,” said CEO Laura Van Eperen.
Campaign goals included increasing general brand awareness of E-ZPass Maryland; educating current and prospective customers about the time- and money-savings of having an E-ZPass Maryland account; increasing sales of the E-ZPass “On the Go” product; and communicating an announcement by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan that transponders are now free (and with the reminder that there is no monthly fee).
The Blue Pencil & Gold Screen Awards program recognizes creative excellence, superior government communication products and those who produce them.
