Emily McDermott has been promoted to Director at Van Eperen. In addition to supporting key clients with account management services, she will now support operations and marketing for the strategic communications firm specializing in public relations, marketing and creative.
In her new role with agency responsibilities, McDermott will support both of the agency’s Baltimore and Rockville offices with personnel oversight, as well as marketing including content, social media, agency PR and marketing and visibility for the agency’s leadership. McDermott will continue to manage client relationships and account teams and supervise the development and execution of communication strategies for clients.
“Emily has been a valuable associate with Van Eperen and we look forward to benefiting from her commitment and expertise as we grow and need additional management oversight of our operations and marketing,” said CEO Laura Van Eperen.
Previously, McDermott was account supervisor/project manager. In 2019, she was the recipient of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Maryland chapter’s Paul E. Welsh Award recognizing her as the professional who represented the best in public relations as an outstanding example of the management function that establishes mutually beneficial relationships between an organization and the public. McDermott’s also been honored by The Daily Record earning a spot on its VIP List that recognizes Maryland’s leaders who are 40 years old or younger based on their professional accomplishments, community service, and a commitment to inspiring change.
A resident of Baltimore, McDermott joined Van Eperen in 2017. She serves on the board of directors for the Maryland chapter of PRSA. Outside of Van Eperen and PRSA, McDermott gives back to the Baltimore community, including her volunteer work with Thread, an organization that serves underperforming city students who face significant barriers inside and outside of the classroom, giving them access to a team of volunteers as well as community resources. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in communications and public relations from Appalachian State University in North Carolina.
