Podcasting continues to be in a steady growth mode, as 40 percent of Americans say they have ever listened to a podcast, while 24 percent say they have listened to one in the past month, up from 21 percent one year ago, according to the Infinite Dial Study by Edison Research and Triton Digital.
It’s a slow but increasing rise and a tactic today’s marketers need to consider for an integrated communications toolbox.
So how do savvy communicators stay up to date on podcasting and social media marketing? By listening to podcasts. Here are my must-listen social media marketing podcasts:
- “For Immediate Release,” hands down the best resource on my iPhone’s podcast player (Downcast). I have been a regular listener for 12 years and rely on the insights from Shel Holtz and his guests as my “secret” weapon for staying on top of social media.
- “Inside PR,” hosted by our friends from PRSA’s Counselors Academy — Martin Waxman, Gini Dietrich and Joe Thornley.
- “Social Media Marketing” podcast, hosted by Michael Stelzner and Social Media Examiner, addressing ways businesses can “navigate the social jungle.” Always timely. This week’s show is “How to Market and Sell Using Webinars.”
- “Social Media Marketing Talk Show,” also by Social Media Examiner, with a focus on the latest breaking news in social media marketing.
There are many marketing podcasts out there, and I listen to others as well. Just conduct a search on your smartphone and explore. The bottom line – with all this free, easy-to-access content there is no excuse for being out of touch when it comes to how businesses can use social media.
